Following Saint Benedict at the time of Pentecost
Abbot-Primate Gregory Polan, OSB and the international community of nearly 100 monks residing at Sant’Anselmo invite you to participate in the 2017 Monastic Renewal Program, “Following Saint Benedict at the time of Pentecost”. Come to Rome during the season of Pentecost and study the role of the spirit in the life of the Church with Benedictine Professors from around the world. Come to Rome during the season of Pentecost to celebrate with the church. Come to Rome during the season to pray with Pope Francis and walk with him through the streets of Rome during the Corpus Christi procession.
The Season of Pentecost offers a unique chance to follow the footsteps of Saint Benedict. You will recognize the gifts of the Holy Spirit witnessed in his life. You will visit places that shaped him: Norcia, Subiaco, Monte Cassino, and less well-known places, such as San Benedetto in Piscinula. You will revisit passages in the Holy Rule and The Dialogues of Saint Gregory to recognize the working of the Spirit.
“Following Saint Benedict at the time of Pentecost” will give you a unique space to consider your own vocation. The program, conducted in English, will be open to Benedictine and Cistercian monks and nuns from all over the world. You will be living at Sant’Anselmo, a warm and vibrant community of monks from 40 different countries. The period of one month will afford you plenty of time for leisure, by either enjoying our beautiful cloister or joining a tour of Rome, arranged daily by a member of the Sant’Anselmo Community.
The total cost for this four-week renewal program is only € 2,250. It includes all expenses such as meals, lodging, conferences, tickets and transportation for various sites, as well as a monthly bus/metro pass for the city of Rome. The fee does not include air travel and transportation to/from the airport. Registration is limited, so please explore this site now and register before 3 April 2017.
