The XII International Liturgy Congress

5 – 6 – 7 May 2021

Rome, Pontifical University Sant’Anselmo – Pontifical Institute of Liturgy

The pandemic caused by the corona virus has led the Church, in many countries of the world, to limit various forms of gathering together and, in particular, to suspend the celebration of the Eucharist with the presence of the faithful. Certain options have been adopted, however, so as not to interrupt the liturgical life of the community in spite of prohibitions and health restrictions. These options have had – and continue to have – a tangible impact on the very notion of participation per ritus et preces in the saving mystery of Christ.

The Congress will consider the limits and opportunities of “virtual celebrations”, re-reading recent experience critically and sketching out possibilities for the future, without neglecting an analysis of the ways in which the liturgy, in the course of history, has dealt with the pervasiveness of pestilence and disease.

BACHELOR’S IN SACRED LITURGY

The Bachelor’s in Sacred Liturgy is aimed at preparing students for the study of the Liturgy, through a liturgical and theological formation of the reading of the sources and the literature of the great authors of liturgical science, so that “the faithful express in their lives and manifest to others the mystery of Christ and the genuine nature of the true Church” (SC. 2). The SL.B. provides the requirements for access to the License in the Sacred Liturgy.

Thesaurus Italiæ Liturgicus

Scientific research project The project Thesaurus Italiæ Liturgicus which was funded by the Italian Episcopal Conference, is promoted in particular by the National Liturgical Office and supported by the Pontifical Institute of Liturgy of the Pontifical University Sant’Anselmo (Rome). The project intends to identify the manuscripts, identify them by type, curate their description, and facilitate their online consultation. For the description of the liturgical manuscripts, Manus will be used online with the Mol liturgical specifications implemented by the Istituto Centrale del Catalogo Unico del Ministero dei Beni e le Attività culturali e il Turismo, based on indications provided by prof. Giacomo Baroffio with the collaboration of the Ufficio Nazionale per i beni culturali ecclesiastici e l’edilizia di culto della Conferenza Episcopale Italiana.
