PAPAL APPOINTMENT

The Pope appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Benjamín Aceval
Rev. Amancio Francisco Benítez Candia,
of the clergy of Villarrica del Espíritu Santo (Paraguay), until now Director of the National Propaedeutic Major Seminary.

Rev. Amancio Francisco Benítez Candia
Rev. Amancio Francisco Benítez Candia was born on 10 February 1973 in Cerroguy-Itapé, Department of Guaira. He studied philosophy at the National Major Seminary of San José in Lambaré, Asunción, and theological studies at the Catholic University of Asunción.
He was ordained a priest on 24 April 1999 for the diocese of Villarrica del Espíritu Santo. He studied for the Licentiate in Sacred Liturgy at the Pontifical Athenaeum of Sant’Anselmo in Rome from 2006 to 2010.

and sung by the students of the Master of Liturgical Music.

receives with joy the appointment as pontifical master of ceremonies of
Monsignor Krzysztof Marcjanowicz.

Monsignor Krzysztof Marcjanowicz November 4, 2010 at the Pontifical Liturgical Institute in Rome defended his doctoral thesis under the direction of Fr. Silvano Maggiani OSM, in which he dealt with the “12th-Century Liturgical System”.

Bishop Marcjanowicz is the seventh in the group of papal master of ceremonies led by Guido Marini, Master of Pontifical Liturgical Ceremonies.

The Holy Father appointed Bishop of Jefferson City (U.S.A.)
Rev. W. Shawn McKnight,
of the clergy of the diocese of Wichita, until now pastor of the Church of the Magdalen Parish in Wichita.

Rev. W. Shawn McKnight was born on June 26, 1968 in Wichita in the diocese of the same name. He attended the University of Dallas, obtaining the Baccalaureate in Biochemistry (1990). Entering the Seminary, he carried out ecclesiastical studies at the Pontifical College “Josephinum” in Columbus, Ohio (1990-1994). Subsequently he obtained the License (1999) and the Doctorate (2001) in Sacramental Theology at the Pontifical Ateneo Sant’Anselmo in Rome. He has published several articles on pastoral sacramental topics.

He was ordained a priest on May 28, 1994 for the diocese of Wichita.

After ordination, he held the following positions: Parochial Vicar of the Blessed Sacrament Parish in Wichita (1994-1997); Parish Administrator of Saint Patrick Parish a Chanute (1999); Chaplain and Adjunct Professor at Newman University in Wichita (2000-2001); Parish priest of Saint Mark the Evangelist Parish in Colwich (2000-2003); Diocesan Director of Divine Worship, Diocesan Consultor and Member of the Presbyteral Council (2000-2005); Director of the Liturgy (2003-2007), Assistant Professor (2003-2008), Dean of Students (2004-2006), Director of Formation (2006-2007) and Vice-President for Development and Alumni Relations (2007-2008) at the Pontifical Josephinum College in Columbus, Ohio; Pastor of the Blessed Sacrament Parish in Wichita (2008-2010); Member of the Saint Meinrad Seminary in Indiana for the formation of permanent deacons (2005-2010); Executive Director of the Office for Clergy and Consecrated Life of the United States Bishops’ Conference (2010-2015); Parish priest of the “Church of the Magdalen” in Wichita (from 2015).

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop of Ipiales (Colombia)
Rev.do José Saúl Grisales Grisales,
of the clergy of the diocese of Sonsón – Rionegro (Colombia), until now Vicar General.

The Rev. José Saúl Grisales Grisales was born in Sonsón on 12 April 1964. He completed his studies in Philosophy and Theology at the National Major Seminary “Christ the Priest” of La Ceja. He obtained a License in Liturgy at the Pontifical Athenaeum of Sant’Anselmo in Rome.

He received priestly ordination on 12 November 1989, incardinating in the diocese of Sonsón – Rionegro.

The Holy Father appointed Bishop of Naval (Philippines)
Rev. Bishop Rex C. Ramirez,
of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Palo.

In the years 1997-2007 he studied in Rome,
at the Pontifical Athenaeum Sant’Anselmo,
obtaining the License in Liturgy and starting studies for the Doctorate.

Pope Francis has appointed the Most Reverend Dom Erik Varden, OCSO, Abbot of Mount Saint Bernard Abbey in Leicestershire, England (UK), as the new Bishop-Prelate of Trondheim, Norway. See details here.

Thesaurus Italiæ Liturgicus

Scientific research project The project Thesaurus Italiæ Liturgicus which was funded by the Italian Episcopal Conference, is promoted in particular by the National Liturgical Office and supported by the Pontifical Institute of Liturgy of the Pontifical University Sant’Anselmo (Rome). The project intends to identify the manuscripts, identify them by type, curate their description, and facilitate their online consultation. For the description of the liturgical manuscripts, Manus will be used online with the Mol liturgical specifications implemented by the Istituto Centrale del Catalogo Unico del Ministero dei Beni e le Attività culturali e il Turismo, based on indications provided by prof. Giacomo Baroffio with the collaboration of the Ufficio Nazionale per i beni culturali ecclesiastici e l’edilizia di culto della Conferenza Episcopale Italiana.

Riflessione e prassi, tradizione e progresso, Dio e l’uomo in uno sguardo segnato dal tempo della preghiera: nient’altro che celebrazione del mistero di Dio pregato nel tempo.

PONTIFICIO ISTITUTO LITURGICO (1961-2015)

Il Pontificio Istituto Liturgico presenta il nuovo elenco delle tesi di licenza e di dottorato che sono state discusse dal 1961 al 2015.

Il volume contiene l’elenco nominale degli autori e dei rispettivi titoli. Sono riportati anche i nomi dei professori moderatori e le aree di studio, che vogliono essere un pratico segno di approccio alla liturgia in base alle sue varie diramazioni e ai diversi oggetti di indagine. Inteso come nuovo strumento di catalogazione del fondo d’Archivio, il volume è il contributo che riprende le fila della storia della scienza liturgica e rende noto il lavoro svolto.

In quanto catalogo delle tesi di licenza e dottorato, è lo strumento offerto agli alunni ed ex-alunni perché essi possano orientarsi nel lavoro svolto, considerare le possibilità di ricerca e intraprendere nuovi itinerari di studio e approfondimento della liturgia della Chiesa.
