The ministry of the presider
and liturgical animation
The course intends to present the euchological and ritual wealth of the post-conciliar liturgical books, with particular attention to the Italian celebratory experience, through direct contact with the rituals of the sacraments. The liturgical books, which constitute the lex orandi of the tradition of the Church, offer many celebratory resources, which are sometimes not included in their theological, spiritual and pastoral nature and therefore are little appreciated in practice.
The course also wants to respond to the need to train all those who carry out a liturgical ministry or are preparing for it (presbyters, deacons, readers and acolytes, adult ministrants) so that the Christian people may more surely obtain the abundant graces that the sacred liturgy contains (SC 21). It consists of 24 lessons of 45 minutes on the following themes:
– Pastoral dimension of the Liturgical Constitution
– Liturgical pastoral care
– Directory on popular piety and liturgy
– Rite of Eucharistic communion and Eucharistic worship outside of Mass
– Rite of the Baptism of children
– Rite of adult Christian initiation
– Rite of Confirmation
– The premises of the Lectionary of the Roman Missal
– The Roman Missal
– Rite of penance
– Rite of the anointing of the sick and pastoral care of the sick
– Rite of marriage
– The Liturgy of the hours: pastoral dimension
– Liturgical music
– Rite of the funeral
– The Blessing
The course is accessible via the web: the lessons in the classroom will be filmed and made available for viewing on the Liturgical Office website, which the members of the e-learning course can access with a personal password. For an effective participation in the lessons, each student can download from the web page the liturgical books that will be presented in class. The teachers are all experts in the subject and come, in general, from the teaching staff of the Pontifical Institute of Liturgy.
At the end of the course an exam is scheduled, with relative certification. A certificate can be issued to all participants who do not take the exam.
– Educational structure
